Iron Woman Book of Mormon Reading Schedule

I recently watched Julie/Julia about the woman who started a blog with a challenge, to make all of Julia Child's recipes within one year and to blog about it to keep who herself accountable. So, I thought reading the Book of Mormon in 60 days would be one of my first goals for the year and to keep myself accountable, I would blog about my reading each night. If you would like to be an ironwoman with me and to read the Book of Mormon in 60 days I would love to hear your comments as you read as well.

I am starting today, January 6th and it will end on March 6th, 2010. I will provide a schedule later. But for todays reading, we will be reading:

Day 1: January 6, 2010

*The title page, introduction, the testimony of the three witnesses, testimony of eight witnesses, testimony of Joseph Smith and explanation about the Book of Mormon.

After I have done my reading today, I will comment more. Good luck with whoever else does the challenge with me and I would love to hear your comments as you read as well.

While reading today, a few things kind of jumped at me: while reading in the introduction section, the Prophet Joseph Smith's quote:
"I told the brethren that the Book of Mormon was the most correct of any book on earth, and the *keystone* of our religion, and a man would get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts, than by any other book."

I have read and heard this quote so many times, but it really is a powerful quote and the part about the keystone I had to look up. A keystone is something in which associated things depend on or the foundation. The Book of Mormon is the foundation of our faith. I need to be reading from it on a daily basis as it makes up so much of our religion or faith.

The other part is in the Three Witnesses Testimonies which says, "And we know that if we are *faithful in Christ,* we shall rid our garments of the blood of all men..." It is our faith in Christ which will save us and we know that it is by more than just believing but by doing things we are saved. We have to prove ourselves to the Lord by obeying his commandments and serving others and it is through doing this that our faith is strengthened and we will have a hope for a better life in the next life. I know these are things that I have always known, but need to be refreshed on, which is why we need to continuously reading from The Book of Mormon.
